Monthly Moments - August 2025

Music

  1. 1. What An Awesome God by Phil Wickham - This song makes my 90's kid-heart oh so happy. I can't help but sign the hand motions while listening.
  1. 2. Gratitude by I AM THEY (feat. Cheyenne Mitchell) - I love belting this song out especially as a reminder that all I have "fit for a king... is a heart singing hallelujah."
  1. 3. (Album) MATIN: Rest by Jess Ray - This is my favorite way to start the day!
After getting dressed for the day, reading a psalms and praying, I make my way downstairs 10-15min before the kids wake up. Opening all the windows and blinds, I listen to this album over the big speakers. With birds chirping and calming nature sounds playing, the first song - "Morning Song" - fills the space. Happily I light two candles (one on the dining table and the other in the kitchen) and begin preparing breakfast. Those 10-15min downstairs in the cool crips morning air, music calmly waking my soul and candles flickering "good morning" to the first glow of the sun, help set the tone for my day. This is the first time I've had a morning routine so peaceful and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Books

  1. 1. I started this book the beginning of the month with the goal to complete it by August 31st. While it is filled with wonderful insights, suggestions, and advice, I found myself barely able to read 5 pages before my eyes became heavy. I set it aside for some shorter books and will pick it up again here and there until I've completed it.

  1. 2. Some dear friends of mine wrote this cute story-based book. While it has hand-drawn characters, it clearly describes, addresses signs, and gives tips for helping students with dyslexia. It was very eye opening and I loved the personal stories and examples.

  1. 3. After reading two academic student-based books, I needed a break. Reaching for the thinnest book, I snatched a C.S. Lewis book. This is my second time reading this book and I still enjoy it with all its twists. I highly recommend reading this book. It's a quick fun read!

Just for Fun

  1. 1. I've done my fair share of color by number books - my favorite activity to do while listening to a book or podcast. Recently I was gifted a "dot by letter" coloring book and it's quite fun! So very different yet so very cool!

  1. 2. I stumbled upon Nourish Move Love (NML) workout videos back when I was postpartum with our first child. I especially enjoyed the workouts that addressed diastasis recti. Now I complete her workouts when at the gym which helps minimize the stress of figuring out which I exercises I want to do.

Pray often. Eat your veggies. Move your body. Love yourself + others.

  1. 3. Besides gathering recipes for the kids from Yummy Toddler Food, - we especially love her muffin recipes - I now enjoy pursuing new family dinner recipes at The Real Food Dietitian. I appreciate receiving their emails with highlighted dinner plans for the week. They also have a large selection of kid-friendly meals and snacks. I've been slowly adding recipes from these sites and others to our online repertoire. Check it out HERE! (you will need a JeboHouse account to access them)

  1. 4. This has been a game changer for our snack routine. Instead of individually serving food in bowls, cups or containers, I simply fill this large circular container (it comes with a lid!) with as many different snacks we have on hand and BOOM! Snack time is ready!
