Monthly Moments - July 2025

I thought it would be fun to round up the past month of things I've been enjoying.

Music

This song first caught my attention because of the cover art. It references The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe where Lucy and Susan are asking if Aslan is safe.

“Safe? . . . Who said anything about safe? Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King I tell you.” – Mr. Beaver

It's a very catchy song and reminds me of  how God is all powerful and “awful” (full of awe). He asks us to follow Him into adventures which are sometimes not “safe”

I didn't realize that half of the songs on my playlist were from this album. I found a calmer acoustic version which I love. This song is not only catchy, but beautifully describes the different things that tug at our hearts or try to distract us.

My favorite part of the song is the image of Jesus drinking "my cup of shame." It's also a good reminder of what I bring to the table – nothing.

Books

This book was a quick read that encourages parents to step back from the pressures of over scheduling and screen time, which allows children the freedom to explore, imagine, and grow through play, particularly in nature. It's loaded with funny stories and practical examples.

I am currently reading through this book. It follows the celebrations of the liturgical Church Calendar and how to incorporate them into your own family and community. This simple rhythm helps align your own calendar to the rhythm and flow of the Church as you remember and celebrate the work of God.

Just for Fun

The hubby and I are trying out a new liquid multivitamin. It is bright orange and has a funny flavor - not too sweet and just a little bitter.

For my birthday I was gifted press-on-nails. While I didn't apply them on very well, I had fun trying them out. Another time I'll try on the othe brand of press-on-nails that I was gifted.

...And That's a Wrap
