Monthly Moments - September 2025

Music

  1. 1. (Album) All of My Days by Ellie Holcomb - I love that they are based from the Psalms.

  1. 2. You're the Only One by Chris Renzema and Moriah Hazeltine - This has been one of my favorite songs for almost 10 years and I still love it. The harmony is beautiful and the chorus rings like an anthem, reminding my heart that Christ is what truly satisfies.

  1. 3. This Sacred Mess by Bryson Breakey - I've been learning more about the sacred time and the Holy Days of the church, which includes Ordinary Time. This song beautifully merges the two ideas together - how our ordinary, regular days are actually precious, meaningful and sacred.

Books

  1. 1. Passaggio Setting - Clark bought me a new Bible for Mother's Day four months ago. I specifically wanted to try this new layout called Passaggio Setting. While traditional Bibles use double-column setting for the entire book, this layout switches between a double-column and single-column depending on the literary structure of each book.

  1. 2. Home Education - It took me 59 days but I did it! It's been such a good read. I have enjoyed the detailed examples and simple instruction for Charlotte Mason style of teaching children once they are ready to learn. I'm reading this in preparation for our Charlotte Mason inspired Nature Study, and it's getting me excited to start!

  1. 3. The Burgess Bird Book for Children - This has been such a fun read! The girls continually request me to read this to them during their snack/tea time after quiet time. The author brilliantly teaches us, the reader, about different types of birds through story form - using Peter Rabbit as the friendly neighbor inquiring after all the different birds in the Orchard. I have been thoroughly enjoying this along with the girls. Burgess has a wide selection of other books covering different animals and biomes in the same style. HIGHLY recommend!

Just for Fun

  1. 1. When searching for curriculum for our homeschool, I stumbled upon Little World Wonderers. There I discovered that Bethany Anne Howards, the author, has written specific curriculum called "A Mother's Education." This 12 week plan includes a curated reading list, reflection sheets, a weekly art print to study, community support, and guidance on various Charlotte Mason notebook practices. These are all beautiful tools that we teach our children, but this plan is solely for Mothers - helping us grow in our own journey and daily education. Today I picked up my books from the library and can't wait to get started.

  1. 2. I purchased a binding machine! When ordering homeschool curriculum, I like to have the curriculum guide spiral bound. I use to utilize three-ring-binders, however they take up a lot of space. Recently I made my first spiral bound book using the binding machine. The first step of punching the holes, was excellent and easy. However attaching the actual ring was quite challenging. I will need some more practice to master that step. Overall, I'm pleased to have a binding machine!

  1. 3. Last but not least, after who-knows how many years I've worn t-shirts to bed, I finally bought a matching cozy pajama set. I feel like such an adult. 😊
