Holiday Gift Ideas

With the holiday season upon us, I have been searching for simple yet thoughtful gifts to thank teachers, love on family members, and appreciate every "hostess with the mostest" - without breaking the bank.

  1. 1. Kid Crafts - Our children's teachers smile from ear-to-ear when they receive a handmade craft from our kids. Check below for what we will be creating this year as well as crafts we've done in the past.
{Christmas} “Present Crafts”
With the Christmas season fast approaching, I like to begin brainstorming craft ideas for my kids. We use these specials crafts as gifts for family, friends and any teachers in my children’s lives. I also enjoy planning fun outings, games, and activities for my children as a way to meaningfully

  1. 2. Cards - Whether it's a hand-drawn card or a card purchased from the store, a thoughtful note goes a long way. This is my favorite way to bless others. Scouring Pinterest, you can find many card ideas to draw. I have several boards organized by event/holiday with several pins in each. Check out my Christmas inspo board HERE.

*Children's Scribbles

My favorite way to make a card is to incorporate my children's scribbles. The simplest way is to turn it into an ornament. (For birthdays I've made balloons, candles, and a birthday cake.)

*Postcards

To save on postage, you might consider creating a simple postcard, which is quite easy to make. I like to draw one design by hand, then scanning it with my phone, I create a document with four images to a page. I then can print as many as I need and spend more time on writing the message. Here are some of my favorites - holiday themed.

  1. 3. Simple Gifts - This year I branched out and attempted a few smaller homemade gifts. In previous years, I did not have capacity to take on even the littlest "self-assembled" craft with three children under three. However this time around was different. With more time to plan things out, I attempted two different gifts that were warmly welcomed.

*Simmer Pot

When searching online, you will find a variety of different instructions. I followed along with a gal on Instagram and found great success. She will send you the instructions and even a supply list after commenting "Christmas Gift" under her video. While I didn't make large enough quantities, the potency was perfect after drying my oranges and apples in the oven for 2.5 hours on low heat. I ended up making my own labels

*Epsom Salt Bath Soaks

EPSOM Salt Bath Soaks

I am a table leader at our local Mama's Group and this time for the Christmas gift I made these cute Epsom Salt Bath Ornaments. Since I already had the essential oils, I simply purchased fragrance-free epsom salt and clear ornaments.

- First I simply measured 1 cup of epsom salt and added 10 drops of my preferred essential oil (see below for which ones I used) and mixed.

- Constructing a funnel out of paper, I poured the mixture into an ornament, resealed the top, then tied an instruction card with some ribbon I already had. (I made 12 ornaments)

I hope these simple ideas give you inspiration as you ponder how to love those around you in your community. Even the smallest of gifts can share cheer, thankfulness, and love.

That's All for Now...
