We wanted to keep it simple this year (2026) for the last day of school.

We love doing little celebrations with friends. Inviting two families over, we had a simple yet lovely morning. Things we planned for:
- Decorations: The girls helped hang streamers
- Slideshow: I created a slide show of pictures from field trips, birthdays, and other events we did with these families
- In future, I'll ask for more photos from each family.
- Lunch: I made pizzas for everyone while delegating sides and desserts: a premade salad and freshly-made lava cake (for the parents only). Popsicles were ready for the kids
- Prepare for a talent show
- Before the day, I showed my girls their "End of the Year Binder" which is full of all their crafts from this year, along with the scriptures and nursery rhymes we memorized. Using this to jog their memory, I had them choose 2 nurses rhymes to share with their friends.
- On the day, each child had a turn to share one or more things that they memorized or learned.
- Extra things: One mom offered to bring a cap and gown for photos. This was such a sweet edition.
- Prepare the Play Space: The day we were to meet was predicated to be extra hot, however it cooled down unexpectedly so the kids enjoyed indoor play and some outdoor fun on wheels.
In addition to our little party, I also purchased a few toys to celebrate the last day of school. I laid them out in the morning when they came downstairs the next day.

- Walkie Talkies - for our camping trip this fall. But also to give my kids a little bit of freedom to go a few doors down or around the corner in our neighborhood. We bought two sets.

While not every curriculum or workbook was completed by the Last Day of School, I wanted to celebrate their accomplishments with friends. Over the summer we plan to continue practicing reading and phonograms, along with completing the math book my daughter has been working through - just a handful more lessons to go!
Either way, we are taking things slow and enjoying the space to play, create, and run around. I have already planned my next year curriculum. If you're interested check it out below.
